| Abstract: | In the hind wings of Yponomeuta and related genera there are transparent patches without scales; within these are arrays of ridges and it is suggested these may be used to produce sounds, with the adjacent membrane acting as a resonator. Avenues for further research are explored, together with potential taxonomic implications. |
